Huntington-Hill Breast Center Opening in Arcadia in Summer 2020

Radiologists at The Hill Medical Corporation (Hill Medical) and Huntington-Hill Imaging Centers (HHIC) announced today that they are opening a fully dedicated breast imaging center in Arcadia in early summer 2020.

The Huntington-Hill Breast Center (HHBC) will be located in the medical office building at 301 W. Huntington Drive, Suite 617, Arcadia, CA.

“The new breast center allows for increased access to much-needed, high-quality screening and diagnostic services to people who live and work in Arcadia and surrounding communities,” says Dr. Lakshmi Tegulapalle, a Hill Medical radiologist and Medical Director for the Jim and Eleanor Randall Breast Center.

Dr. Tegulapalle is one of five Hill Medical subspecialty-trained radiologists who interpret breast imaging. This additional training, referred to as a breast imaging fellowship, provides radiologists like Dr. Tegulapalle an additional skill set in the detection of breast cancers. The expertise of these radiologists, paired with the latest technology and subspecialized breast radiologic and ultrasound technologists, results in fewer false positives and a higher cancer detection rate.

“Similar to our other breast imaging locations, all studies at our new center will be read by breast imaging radiologists,” adds Tegulapalle.

Both screening and diagnostic breast imaging will be offered at HHBC, including 2D digital and 3D mammography (tomosynthesis) and state-of-the-art breast ultrasound.  Screening mammography is recommended annually for women ages 40+ with no increased risks for breast cancer. Diagnostic mammography is recommended for any woman or man experiencing a new breast issue such as a lump, skin discoloration, or change in breast size or shape.

Breast cancer continues to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Fortunately, the mortality rate from breast cancer has decreased 39% since the 1990s, partly due to the increase in annual screening mammography. Five-year survival rates for breast cancers caught early are 98%.

“Early detection with mammography not only saves lives, but also reduces the severity of treatment that women with breast cancer must receive,” adds Dr. Tegulapalle.

HHBC in Arcadia will be the second Hill Medical location solely dedicated to breast imaging, similar to their flagship breast center the Jim and Eleanor Randall Breast Center in Pasadena. HHIC offers breast imaging at other multi-modality imaging sites HHIC-Glendora, HHIC-Cordova, and Breast MRI at HHIC-Fair Oaks.

Mammography appointments can be made at HHIC and HHBC at 626-698-7266 or at the Jim and Eleanor Randall Breast Center at 626-698-7210.
