Breast cancer can be treatable, and often times curable, if caught at an early stage. One of the most reliable tools to detect breast cancer early continues to be through screening mammograms. Experts in the imaging and cancer fields continue to recommend that women of average risk start their annual mammogram routines at age 40. When with a higher risk (family history, etc.) should discuss with their doctor about if they should start earlier than age 40. Unfortunately screening mammography has become a bit of a hot topic in recent years. However, the facts speak for themselves – these women are living proof that screening mammography saves lives!
